Last week, when I was with new relocation clients on a city tour through Alphaville, and we made a short stop at Alpha Square Mall, I had planned to introduce my clients to a nice place for a romantic dinner … BUT: The Greek restaurant ‘Thassos’, was closed – I mean closed for ever. 😦
A surprise? Well, not really for me …
Although I’m not genuinely surprised, I’m actually sad that this restaurant doesn’t exist anymore. It was not only the sole Greek restaurant in Alphaville, it was also a beautiful place with a nice open terrace, an interesting menu and friendly service (who even spoke some English).
And yet, food and service quality was unfortunately not consistent, which partly explains that I’m not really surprised that Thassos couldn’t survive.
However: it’s always sad when an ambitious idea fails.
I hope the location at Alpha Square Mall will soon be occupied by a new restaurant! The area needs more options (and I need a little variety too!). I will certainly keep an eye on it, and I keep you updated!
At this point you might wonder whether I actually don’t make use of Sao Paulo’s immense offer of restaurants. The answer is: no, not really, or at least not regularly. To be honest, my husband and I simply like this quiet, somewhat peaceful area. We hate being stuck in traffic (which unfortunately is common in São Paulo), and we love being spontaneous while still getting a table and our hungry stomachs quickly filled.
And yet, once in a while we dress up and make a reservation in a fancy restaurant, or we just meet with friends from São Paulo (who know the city very well) in a cool, casual bar/restaurant …
… BECAUSE LIFE IS A JOURNEY, NOT A DESTINATION!
