Good news! A new Greek restaurant for Alphaville: MYLOS

MYLOS at Alpha Square Mall

MYLOS at Alpha Square Mall

Only a few weeks ago I was a bit sad to notice that the only Greek restaurant in Alphaville, ‘Thassos’ had closed it’s doors. Today, when visiting Alpha Square Mall again, I was happy to see that the former place of ‘Thassos’ is already occupied again – and it’s a Greek restaurant!

I didn’t go inside, just took a few photos, and will certainly soon give it try.

When I studied the menu I noticed though, that only the starters seem to be Greek. The rest of the menu sounds to me more “mediterranean”. I briefly talked to the owner who suddenly showed up at the entrance, and he said that they would probably change some items on the menu within the next few weeks.

I hope the Mylos will be en enrichment for our restaurant scene in Alphaville.

I’m wishing the owner and his team all the best!

Restaurant Thassos has closed!

Last week, when I was with new relocation clients on a city tour through Alphaville, and we made a short stop at  Alpha Square Mall, I had planned to introduce my clients to a nice place for a romantic dinner … BUT: The Greek restaurant ‘Thassos’, was closed – I mean closed for ever. 😦

A surprise? Well, not really for me …

Bild 16Although I’m not genuinely surprised, I’m actually sad that this restaurant doesn’t exist anymore. It was not only the sole Greek restaurant in Alphaville, it was also a beautiful place with a nice open terrace, an interesting menu and friendly service (who even spoke some English).Bild 17
And yet, food and service quality was unfortunately not consistent, which partly explains that I’m not really surprised that Thassos couldn’t survive.

However: it’s always sad when an ambitious idea fails.

I hope the location at Alpha Square Mall will soon be occupied by a new restaurant! The area needs more options (and I need a little variety too!). I will certainly keep an eye on it, and I keep you updated!

At this point you might wonder whether I actually don’t make use of Sao Paulo’s immense offer of restaurants. The answer is: no, not really, or at least not regularly. To be honest, my husband and I simply like this quiet, somewhat peaceful area. We hate being stuck in traffic (which unfortunately is common in São Paulo), and we love being spontaneous while still getting a table and our hungry stomachs quickly filled.

And yet, once in a while we dress up and make a reservation in a fancy restaurant, or we just meet with friends from São Paulo (who know the city very well) in a cool, casual bar/restaurant …

… BECAUSE LIFE IS A JOURNEY, NOT A DESTINATION!

Bistrô da Sara at Alpha Square Mall

So far I wasn’t a guest at Bistrô da Sara, so unfortunately I can’t report on service and food yet. But on that afternoon when I discovered the new Bistrô inside Shopping Alpha Square Mall, there was a group of family and/or friends having lunch at one of the beautifully decorated tables in front of the restaurant – and they seemed to be very happy!

Despite the fact that the restaurant is located in the small ‘food court area’ of Alpha Square Mall, it still seemed inviting to me.

The Bistro appears to be rather casual, and perfect for a quick bite at lunch, or a casual meeting with friends.

With wooden tables and checkered table cloths, lots of plants, and a blackboard on the wall, it creates a “country-style” atmosphere.

The small menu with a few choices of entrees, side dishes and desserts – not to forget the chef’s suggestion of the day, sounds very appealing to me. All dishes come with a salad of the day with herb sauce and bread.

Hours:
Monday – Saturday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM

 Definitely worth a try  😉
